Bayonet at Puppy Creek. Just say Bayonet. And don’t get stabbed. I know there is a Puppy creek somewhere out there. The Senior Tour is there Thur Mar 21. As it is a little south of the Triad where I live, the grass might be turning green, which is nice.

Fabulous golf course, some tricks to it and some demons to address. Bayonet has a little bit of everything, doglegs that turn left and uphill, and left and downhill, two uphill par 3’s, and a dogged mind – f%^&ing short par 4 that turns right angle over hazard. Huge range and great practice areas.

The aerial book is below. Print this and mark it up any way you like, with green dimensions and target landing zones, and so forth.

At Bayonet I think about the fourth hole, which is a medium length par 4 downhill, over water to the green. What I think about is squeezing it far enough down the hill to get as flat a lie as possible, because that long to medium second shot off a downhill lie, over water, is mind torture. Green is wide in the front and narrow in the back, so it can play easy to haaard.

So I’ll have fun with that.
